I’d say the cover of Elektra Assassin #4 is a hommage to Leyendeckers painting “Honeymoon”. Check out the little guy in the upper left corner, the flowers, the frame…

I’m a bit sad that the little fellow in the upper left of Sienkiewicz’s painting is an outright swipe, however….

Yeah, but Mr Sienkiewicz is so good, he is allowed to take a shortcut here and there π … Those eight issues of Elektra Assassin are among the best comics I ever read!
