Cool! I always liked that cover. I have another book, about Jason and the Argonauts, by Henry Treece I believe, with cover art by the same artist…at least I’m pretty sure it’s the same artist. Cool post!

I appreciate the feedback, Clayton, and thanks for the information. I just did a Google search, and it turns out Amazon.com has a small cover scan of Treece’s Jason and the Argonauts. Here’s the image:
That must be the cover of edition you own. The design is definitely intended to echo the design of The Green Man. And it might, indeed, be the same artist. Hard to tell for sure, the scan is so small. If it is the same artist, he seems to have smoothed out the rough edges of his style a bit. And yet, I think I prefer the cover of The Green Man; it’s a bit odd, but it has an intensity that Jason and the Argonauts lacks. Perhaps the English philosopher Francis Bacon was on to something when he wrote, “There is no excellent beauty, that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.”
